Racing for Peace

We meet South Sudanese Abraham Guem, a 1,500-metres runner who trains in Japan in hope to qualify for the Paris Olympics, as well as Indian Khanu Singh, a racehorse groom in Obihiro, Hokkaido Prefecture.

South Sudanese 1,500-metres runner Abraham Guem is training with the goal to take part in the Paris Olympics.
Abraham and Kusu Yasunari, his teammate and coach, pursue their dream in tandem.
Abraham says his inspiration to run came from when he saw members of warring tribes become united by the spirit of sportsmanship during a national competition in his home country.
The animals under Khanu's care are horses of a breed that was used long ago to work in agriculture and forestry. They now compete in the world's only workhorse racing circuit.
