NHK WORLD-JAPAN TV Program Monitor
1. Requirements for becoming NHK WORLD-JAPAN TV Program Monitors
NHK WORLD-JAPAN TV Program Monitors should:
- (1) live outside Japan;
- (2) have access to NHK WORLD-JAPAN at any time via TV distribution or the internet (NHK WORLD-JAPAN website, iOS apps, or Android apps);
- (3) be aged 18 or older;
- (4) be able to communicate by e-mail, write monitoring reports in English and use Microsoft Excel files (.xlsx);
- (5) have your own bank account which can receive international wire transfers in Japanese Yen, US Dollars, Euros or Pounds Sterling.
Please note that:
- (1) Only one person per household is eligible to apply. If any member of your household, including yourself, has already been assigned as an NHK Monitor in any field, and is currently actively contributing as such, please do not apply.
- (2) Current NHK WORLD-JAPAN TV Program Monitors are requested NOT to apply.
- (3) Excel files converted from non-Microsoft applications (such as google sheet) are not accepted.
2. Assignment of NHK WORLD-JAPAN TV Program Monitors
Monitors are required to watch six (6) NHK WORLD-JAPAN programs via TV distribution or the internet (live streaming or Video On Demand), and submit their comments in English (approximately 130 words) per calendar month. NHK will provide a list of programs to be monitored. Monitors shall fill in the designated Monitoring Form for program evaluation and comments. The form, which is a Microsoft Excel file (.xlsx), includes a five-level scale evaluation for 11 questions and a 130-word remarks field. Monitors should submit the form to NHK by e-mail within seven (7) days after the original broadcast.
3. Assignment Period
The six (6) month term, between April 1, 2024 and September 30, 2024 (NHK may request an extension).
4. Remuneration
Monitors will be paid a remuneration of one thousand five hundred (1,500) Japanese Yen for each Monitoring Form accepted by NHK.
5. How to Apply
Please apply using the form below. When applying, you are requested to provide certain personal information. In addition, we ask that you write comments on a program of your choice in about 130 words.
6. Application Period
From January 31, 2024, at 3:00 am (UTC) to February 7, 2024, at 3:00 am (UTC).
7. Appointment of Monitors
All applications will be carefully screened by NHK and monitors will be appointed. Applicants will be notified of the results by e-mail by mid-March, 2024.
8. On Handling of Personal Data/Information
Applicants' personal data/information will only be used for the selection of monitors and related matters. It shall be carefully handled and never disclosed to third parties.
