Roadside retail complex reopens for business in Suzu

A roadside retail operation in Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, located at the tip of the Noto Peninsula, has reopened after a water outage caused by the January earthquake was resolved.

For now, Roadside Station Noroshi will only operate two days per week, and is yet to return its signature product, tofu made from locally grown soybeans, to the shelves.

But while the selection of items remains limited, people can buy specialty goods including soba noodles, salt, and sake.

When the store first opened at 9:00 a.m. on April 4, local residents filed through the doors to be greeted by staff they had not seen for a long time.

Employee Kodera Miwa said, "Many people cannot come this far, but we will do our best and hope people will support us. We hope to somehow get our products together and work with the locals to make the roadside station an indispensable part of this district."

The facility will open on Thursdays and Saturdays. Online sales are also available.
