Temporary housing: 3,000 units to be completed by the end of April

The governor of Ishikawa Prefecture has announced that about 3,000 temporary housing units are to be completed by the end of this month in areas affected by the Noto Peninsula earthquake.

Speaking at a press conference on April 1, the governor pointed out that 1,643 temporary housing units had been completed so far in nine cities and towns in the quake-stricken area.

He also said that approximately 3,000 additional units are expected to be completed by the end of April.

The housing units to be completed soon will be part of a total of over 6,000 such accommodations local authorities hope to have in place by August. The number of units to be built has been determined by the number of applications for such housing in various areas.

By municipality, the number of units to be built comes to 3,200 in Wajima City; 1,400 in Suzu City; 500 in both Nanao City and Noto Town; 490 in Anamizu Town; and in Shika Town a tally of 360 among others.
