More bus services resume in Noto Town and Suzu City

Transport services for residents in Ishikawa Prefecture's Okunoto district are being partially restored as part of recovery efforts in the wake of the New Year’s Day earthquake.

Some bus routes connecting Noto Town, Suzu City, and other areas are back in service on a temporary timetable as of March 1. Local officials have confirmed road safety.

Some teenagers appeared delighted, especially those who have been unable to get to school for some time. On March 4, students from Noto Town boarded the bus to their high school in Suzu City, about 20 kilometers away.

"I missed my friends and teachers because I could only talk to them online," said one female student. "I am happy that I can finally go to school and take classes with everyone. I am grateful that the bus service has resumed."

According to bus operator Hokuriku Railroad, some routes will remain out of service due to poor road conditions – and for those that have resumed, not all bus stops are in use.
