Call center opens in Toyama Pref. to help businesses apply for quake subsidies

Toyama Prefectural officials have opened a call center to help businessowners affected by the Noto Peninsula earthquake apply for financial support.

The service began on January 29.

Japan’s central government has compiled a support plan for small, medium- and micro-sized businesses in the prefecture. Applicants can apply for a subsidy to cover three-quarters of the restoration costs, capped at 300 million yen (about 2 million dollars).

Kyusaki Minori of Toyama’s industry support division said, "We ask about the damage companies have sustained in the disaster, and provide information about support measures. Please feel free to contact us."

Officials advise applicants to keep a photographic record of the damage.

The service is open weekdays 9 am to 5 pm. Please call 076-444-3962.
