The service, which started on January 22, is managed by the Ishikawa Mental Health Center and staffed by certified psychologists as well as other specialists.
On the first day of operations, calls came in, including one from an evacuee to Kanazawa who sought advice on where to go for her emotional distress.
Center director Tsunoda Masahiko said, "In the three weeks since the earthquake, the need for psychological care has increased. We would like to provide consultations, so that disaster victims can spend their time as stress-free as possible."
