Terui joined NHK in 2003. He has worked in the Tokushima, Yokohama and Mito stations, and also covered the Paris Agreement. For NHK World, he has reported on a Japanese soldier left on a Filipino island after World War Two. Terui is now based in Tokyo, producing business stories.
