At the University of California, Los Angeles, people protesting Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip are clashing with counter demonstrators.
ABC TV and other US news outlets say the violence began at around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday local time at an encampment on the UCLA campus.
Aerial footage from ABC shows people hitting each other with clubs and using pepper spray.
