Shizuoka Prefecture has a rich natural environment; from the peaks of the World Heritage Site, Mt. Fuji, to the depths of Japan's deepest bay, Suruga. July is the official start of the climbing season and the slopes of Mt. Fuji will be filled with international visitors. So ahead of that, NHK WORLD-JAPAN turns its attention to Shizuoka Prefecture throughout June.

Shizuoka is midway between Tokyo and Nagoya, about an hour's ride from either of them by Shinkansen bullet train. It offers 4 seasons of landscapes with a variety of different geographical conditions. Shizuoka is also one of the country's prime areas for tea production. Having a sip in vast nature can be a sublime experience. The people, products, and other delights of Shizuoka are worth knowing.
