Mixed Rice with Soy Flavored Pork and Bamboo Shoots

Ingredients (Serves 4)
* 2 cups (1cup=200ml) white, short-grained rice
* 2 cups water (filtered or mineral water is recommended)
* 200g / 7oz boiled bamboo shoot
* 100g / 4oz thinly sliced pork (or chicken or beef)
* 1 tbsp vegetable oil
* 3 tbsp soy sauce
* 1 tbsp sake (rice wine)
* 2 tbsp mirin, a sweet cooking sake
* 1 tbsp sugar
* Green garnish
* Ground black pepper

1 Cook the rice using 2 cups of rice and 2 cups of water.

2 Cut the bamboo shoot into 2-3 cm strips.

3 Cut the pork into 2-3 cm pieces.

4 Heat the vegetable oil in the frying pan.

5 Place the pork in the frying pan and fry it until the color of the meat changes.

6 Add the bamboo shoots and stir fry. Add the additional seasonings and stir fry on medium heat until the liquid is almost evaporated.

7 Once the rice is cooked, add it to the pork mixture.

8 Put on a serving plate and garnish with pepper and green herb (for example Japanese Sansho, green onion).
Mix rice to spread steam evenly.
