"Gochiso Tofu" - Decorated Tofu
- Ingredients (Serves 4)
- *Silk tofu (soft tofu)
*2 slices ham
(Instead of ham, you can use roast beef, roast chicken or tuna.)
*20g / 1oz ginger
*1/2 stalk naga-negi (Japanese leek)
*5 Shiso (perilla) leaves
*25g / 1oz Chinese pickles
*Garlic flakes (thinly sliced and deep fried garlic)
*White or black sesame seeds
1 Drain the tofu and place on a serving plate. Put paper towel around the tofu to absorb excess water. Put the plate in the refrigerator to chill the tofu thoroughly.
2 Chop up the toppings: ham, ginger, naga-negi, shiso, Chinese pickles and peanuts.
3 Remove the paper towel from the chilled tofu.
4 Sprinkle garlic flakes and sesame seeds on the tofu.
5 Don't pour the soy sauce over the tofu. Pour a little of it at the edges. Don't disturb the beautifully arranged toppings.
