Grappling with the Past
Miyagi Meets Palau - Part 2

Young judoka Keiza Tulop travels from Palau to Zao in Miyagi Prefecture to pursue her Olympic dreams. Keiza trains with Mitsutoshi Nanjo, head coach of the Japanese women's judo team during the Rio Olympics. The Togatta Elementary School students meet Keiza and are introduced to judo's philosophy and etiquette. They also pay a visit to Kitaharao, the home of many Japanese who were repatriated from Palau after World War II. Together, the kids think about how to move toward a war-free future.
