In this episode of CYCLE AROUND JAPAN Highlights, we will recommend a journey that you may start cycling from Tokyo to Izu-Oshima, a volcanic island located about 100 kilometers south of the capital city's center. On the way to the island, our cyclist meets a cheerful farming family, and samples their traditional vegetable. In an old hot spring resort, he meets a sophisticated wooden craft tradition. At the heart of Izu-Oshima is the Mount Mihara (758m), an active volcano which is the source of several interesting sites. This island is also known for its Tsubaki, or camellia flowers, blooming everywhere from January through March. Join us a cycle ride to the volcanic island "One Step from Tokyo"!
