Passing Down Lessons of Tsunami Engraved in Stone: Kochi
From ancient times, Kochi Prefecture in western Japan has been repeatedly devastated by tsunami caused by earthquakes off its southern coast. Stone tablets and structures inscribed with lessons learned from the disasters can still be found in affected areas. But as time passes, the messages are fading, and they're being forgotten. Efforts are underway to make the teachings available for future generations. Photos of the tablets and structures, which have been enhanced using the latest technology, are being posted online.
