An Indonesian's Farming Dream in Gunma
Workpedia Japan focuses on the lives of foreign nationals working in Japan. On this episode, we visit a farm in Gunma Prefecture where Indonesian Miko Alasta is in charge of growing lettuce and harvesting strawberries. (This program was broadcast on November 3, 2022.)
Twenty-five-year-old Miko Alasta has been working at a farm in Showa Village in Gunma Prefecture since 2016.
The strawberries grown at the farm are of a variety called Yayoi Hime, well-loved for its balance of sweet and sour flavors.
After learning in Japan, Miko dreams of opening a farming equipment store in his homeland.
