Saving the Serpentine Soup of Ryukyu
On this episode, we go to Kitanakagusuku Village in Okinawa Prefecture to meet US-born Alex Hopson, who works at a restaurant that serves a kind of soup with an unusual main ingredient - venomous sea snake, called Irabu! It's a dish that dates back to when the Ryukyu Kingdom ruled over Okinawa. Alex has made it his mission to preserve this unique soup and the local culinary culture.
