Chris’s Little Nigerian Shop
North of Tokyo is the city of Koshigaya in Saitama Prefecture. More than 500 Nigerian nationals currently live in the area. One of them, Chris Andrews, runs a small shop there that caters to the Nigerian community. We follow Chris in his struggle to keep his business.
Chris Andrews was born in Nigeria in 1969. At the age of 27, he came to Japan.
On the second floor of a building is a church where a group of Nigerians are holding Sunday mass. Many of the Nigerians here work at factories and on construction sites within Saitama Prefecture.
It’s been 25 years since Chris left Nigeria. He has been supported by Japanese friends. Facing difficulties, his love for Japan is growing stronger than ever.
