Struggles for Recovery in the Restaurant Industry
Currently, around 2.8 million foreigners are official residents in Japan - accounting for about 2% of the country’s population. This program, "Where We Call Home," offers a glimpse into their lives and the hardships they face in Japanese society. This time, we followed a young female restaurant owner Aya Wu from China in her struggle to survive the coronavirus crisis.
Aya Wu from China runs a popular Chinese restaurant in Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture.
The Sichuan-style spicy hot pot is among the customers’ favorites at Aya’s restaurant.
Aya volunteered to clean up the streets (in her neighborhood) three years ago.
In a bid to turn around her restaurant, Aya experiments with new services such as food delivery.
