The Paris Exposition (1867), in which Japan took part for the first time, stimulated interest in the Far Eastern country in Europe. Musically, the French composer Debussy was one of those who were attracted. A Debussy's piece, "The Girl with Flaxen Hair" and the mid-20th century American composer Hartke's work "Netsuke" will be played in this episode.
