Nations are accelerating efforts to achieve zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Electricity and gas are vital energy sources in everyday life, and Japan must urgently replace the fossil fuels it uses to produce energy. Someya Yumi established the Tokyo Oil Field Project with the aim of generating energy using recycled fuel made from waste cooking oil. Youths discuss with Someya how she is contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 7, Affordable and Clean Energy, and the problems she faces.
