The garment has a pattern of scattered fans and flowers on a striking yellow base. Colored using the bingata dyeing technique, it was worn by women of high rank in the Ryukyu Kingdom. The Ryukyu Islands' distinctive history gave birth to the garment, as can be seen by its subtropical colors and Chinese and Japanese influences.
