Miyagi Prefecture was among the worst hit areas in the 2011 Great Eastern Japan Earthquake, which triggered a devastating tsunami. In this region alone, about 10,000 people lost their lives. This report explores how a local graduate student is developing a tsunami alert system aimed at saving lives in future disasters.
