Iwate horse festival marks start of early summer

About 60 horses carrying children paraded about 14 kilometers from Takizawa City to Morioka City during the traditional Chagu Chagu Umakko horse festival. The event, which dates back to the Edo period, is held at the end of rice-planting season to thank the animals for their help.
