Fukushima's Soma Nomaoi festival showcases martial spirit

Soma Nomaoi, a festival of traditional martial spirit in the Soma region of Fukushima Prefecture, was held two months earlier than usual to avoid the mid-summer heat. The mounted samurai warriors galloping around and competing for two flags falling from the fireworks made for a thrilling scene.
