Rice planting season begins in Iwate

Rice planting has begun this month in Hachimantai City at the foot of Mt. Iwate, as the mountain's snow melted a little earlier than usual. Since ancient times, many areas in Iwate Prefecture have timed their rice planting based on Mt. Iwate's snow levels. The mountain is reflected in the rice fields that have been filled with water ahead of planting.
