Japanese irises herald early summer in Tottori

A variety of Japanese irises, Kakitsubata, is in full bloom at Matasuke Pond in Tottori Prefecture's Iwami Town, which has designated the blossoms as its town flower. Every year, the locals mow the grass around the wetland to prepare the environment for the irises.
