A mighty flow of blooms
The renowned collection of almost 500 Somei-yoshino blossoming cherry trees along the Kitakami River in the city of the same name in Japan’s Iwate Prefecture were planted more than a century ago. The two-kilometer strip of trees is one of the top three cherry-blossom viewing spots in the northeastern Tohoku region.
