Saitama Prefecture boasts 1.2 kilometers of blooming cherry trees

A riverbank in Sakado City, Saitama Prefecture features an early-blooming cherry variety called Angyo-kanzakura ("Angyo winter cherry blossoms"), which have reached 70% of their peak. Angyo is a district in Kawaguchi City, also in the southeastern part of the prefecture. In 2000, 200 trees were planted in Sakado City and the 1.2 kilometer row of pink flowers has become a spring spectacle attracting crowds to its annual cherry blossom festivals.
