Yellow flower carpet in Ehime

The Yellow Hill of Iyo City, Ehime Prefecture, earns its name from the vibrant yellow hue it takes on in early spring when the rape flowers are in full bloom. The flowers cover around 2 hectares of land, thanks to a local couple in their 70s who have spent nine years planting them in an effort to revitalize an area struggling with depopulation and aging. Their efforts have paid off and it's now an attraction drawing both locals and tourists from further afield.
