Snow monsters in Akita

In the bitter cold of winter, the water vapor from the Sea of Japan turns to ice and clings to trees, causing them to resemble frozen monsters. Until mid-February visitors to the area will be able to view these winter beasts, which stand to 8 meters high as they walk a 400-meter course between them.
