Horses get snowy workout

Horses in Hokkaido's Tokachi region get a snowy workout called "uma oi undo." Horses need exercise all year round, and this winter tradition helps keep them healthy ahead of the spring foaling season. The sight of the horses running in the snow has become a seasonal tradition in the area. On January 15, more than 80 horses ran about 800 meters per circuit. The event is open to the public on weekday mornings through February 22.
