When winter comes to Sapporo and the streets are covered in snow, it's time to deploy the sasara tram. At the front and rear, bundles of bamboo about 30 centimeters long spin to brush snow off the tram tracks. The local transportation bureau says it has four of the trams that it will run until around March next year.
