Autumn leaves and winter cherry blossoms

Mount Sakurayama, in Gunma Prefecture's Fujioka City, is covered with about 7,000 winter cherry trees. The section of the 600-meter mountain near the summit is designated as a national natural monument. The trees that line the mountain's paths are known as fuyuzakura, and their white and pale pink flowers began to bloom in early October through mid-December. The winter cherry blossoms and autumn foliage can be enjoyed together until late November.
