Turning Aomori apples into art

Farmers in Tsuruta Town, Aomori Prefecture, are producing apple artworks. The farmers attach sticker designs on the surfaces of green apples and place them in the sun for about two weeks. While the uncovered portions of the apples turn red, the areas under the stickers remain green. Peeling off the stickers unveils the art. About 350 apples were harvested on the day of NHK's visit, revealing faces, cranes, flowers and many other intricate designs.
