Fireworks dedicated to peace light up Niigata sky

One of Japan’s most popular firework festivals was held in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, including some creations dedicated to peace. The long-running event honors those who died in an air raid in Nagaoka City in 1945 and also expresses hopes for the area’s recovery from a major earthquake that hit in 2004.
