Cherry blossom festival returns to Shiroishi Castle

Every spring, the park around Shiroishi Castle in Miyagi Prefecture becomes flush with pink as roughly 300 cherry trees come into bloom. Shiroishi City is celebrating the occasion this year with its first cherry blossom festival since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The city is lighting up the trees each night for the event, which will run through April 23.
