A natural treasure in full bloom

The 13-meter-tall Takizakura in the town of Miharu in Fukushima Prefecture is said to be over 1,000 years old and has been designated as a national natural monument.
This year, it reached full bloom on April 1, the earliest in recorded history. Shimmering with flowers that dot its cascading branches, it's not hard to see how this magnificent specimen earned its name — the waterfall cherry tree.
