Miyagi Prefecture's famous row of cherry trees blooms early

Hitome Senbonzakura, an 8-kilometer row of 1,200 cherry blossom trees between the towns of Ogawara and Shibata in Miyagi Prefecture, has bloomed a week earlier than usual. Nearby trains are temporarily running at reduced speed so people can enjoy the view. The Japanese name translates as one thousand cherry blossom trees in one view.
