The island of 1,000 cherry blossom trees

For 15 years, residents of Matsue City in Shimane Prefecture have been planting cherry blossom trees on Daikonshima Island. Today, the island boasts over 1,000 such trees of different varieties, including the Kawazu cherry blossoms, which are currently in full bloom. As March comes to a close, the someiyoshino variety is beginning to bloom, allowing visitors the chance to enjoy the beauty of the cherry blossoms for a little longer.
