Snow-capped plum blossoms

Visitors to the Kitano Tenmangu Shrine in Kyoto got a chance to see early blooming plum blossoms shrouded in snow.

The famous garden is home to about 1,500 plum trees. It opened to the public on January 28 and stays open until late March. Weekend visitors can catch a special sight late at night. On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the garden lights up with about 700 candles.
