Fall festival makes return from COVID hiatus

A traditional festival dating back to the late 16th century was held in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture for the first time in three years. The Takayama Matsuri features beautiful carved floats and was registered as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2016. It is usually held every spring and fall but had been canceled during the coronavirus pandemic.
