"Seven flowers of autumn" in bloom

Western Japan's Yamaguchi Prefecture is home to Akiyoshidai, one of the most extensive karst plateaus in the country. Across the lush grasslands, the end of summer is heralded by the arrival of the so-called "seven flowers of autumn," including the "kawaranadeshiko" (fringed pink) and "kudzu" (Japanese arrowroot).
