Awa Odori back after a 3-year break
Awa Odori, a 400-year-old dance festival in Tokushima Prefecture, returned in 2022 after a three-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival features women's dances characterized by elegant and flexible movements set to a two-beat rhythm, and men's dances characterized by dynamic and free-form performances. Each group, known as "ren," showcases its own unique style. As summer approaches, locals can be seen practicing their dances throughout the town.
