Nagaoka fireworks festival returns following pandemic hiatus

The Nagaoka fireworks festival in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, is one of the biggest drawcards of the Japanese summer. The two-day celebration features some 20,000 fireworks that are launched from the banks of the Shinano River, and attracts one million spectators every year.
