Spring comes late to snow country

In the grounds around the ruins of Hirosaki Castle in northern Japan, about 2,600 cherry trees of about 50 different varieties create one of the most famous cherry-blossom viewing spots in Japan. Every spring, the city welcomes about 2 million people, which is more than 10 times Hirosaki's population.
