Seasonal symbols of hope in Hiroshima

The city of Hiroshima was awash with color on March 29, 2022, as the cherry blossoms reached full bloom. Visitors flocked to the Peace Memorial Park to take in the scene, which hold special significance in the city. The park is home to around 300 cherry trees, including a number that have been grown from the branches of trees exposed to the atomic bomb that was dropped on the city on August 15, 1945. These trees serve as a powerful reminder of the devastating impact of the bombing as well as the resilience of the city and its people.
