Japanese Students Get a Taste of Myanmar Ahead of the Olympics

Before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, some municipalities in Japan have been inviting foreign athletes to use their facilities. That's giving children a taste of other cultures.

Tsurugashima City, north of Tokyo, will be hosting foreign athletes before the Olympics. As part of the program, the city provided Myanmar-style food in school lunches. Students at one school enjoyed lentil soup and a fish curry. "It was good," "It was kind of sweet," they said.

Students from Myanmar in Japan gave first graders a language lesson and performed a traditional dance. "It makes me so happy to be able to share our country's culture and dance," said one of them. "It was really lovely," said a Japanese student.
