NHK senior reporter and commentator Amma Hideo has covered Russian and Soviet politics and diplomacy for nearly 30 years. He previously served as NHK's Moscow bureau chief. During that time he reported on the 2014 political upheaval in Ukraine, including protests in the capital Kyiv, and the conflicts in Crimea and Donbass.
