Mikoda Akihiro has been an economic journalist for nearly 30 years. He is currently based in Tokyo, covering trade, finance, and the US and Chinese economies. He was a senior correspondent in Washington DC from 2000 to 2004 and Beijing from 2012 to 2014. He was also the anchor of NHK's nightly business news program.
